About the opportunity
The Quality Manager is the owner of the business Quality Management System and responsible for developing, planning and leading the execution of all manufacturing activity in the Quality space. This includes managing the product and site qualifications for internal, customer and third party certifications and approvals. The position also has responsibility for planning and conducting internal audits that will monitor and ensure successful transition processes. Owns the delegation for product acceptance authority and other customer driven requirements.
Who you?ll work with
Reporting into the Site Leader and part of the Site Leadership Team, the Quality Manager works closely with functional and program managers, customers and related GKN divisional leaders. The Quality Manager supports and provides direction to Engineers, Operations and Supply Chain personnel in relation to successfully meeting Quality objectives.
What you?ll do
Responsible for continuous improvement efforts to continually improve the quality systems.
Manages the planning and execution of last article / first article activity for all parts being transitioned.
Act as the expert on various customer and industry quality system models such as ISO9000, AS9100 and D1-9000. Recent experience with the revision D version of AS9100 is preferred.
Establishment, maintenance and reporting of key metrics to monitor and report on project success from a technical, cost and schedule perspective.
Adherence to the GKN Life Cycle Gate management process including the assessment of risks and identification of associated mitigations.
Planning and managing of daily work assignments for the quality team.
Manages the planning and execution of robust quality audits validating the integrity of the processes and systems used to meet project requirements.
Leads site/facility stand-up processes for required internal, customer and regulatory certifications (NADCAP etc).
Ensure that technical expertise is provided to team members, suppliers and third parties ensuring compliance with contractual, company and regulatory requirements.
Develops written presentations and verbal communications, including executive summaries for project updates and status.
Ensures that export compliance, data protection and other relevant regulations and legislation for the region are followed.
Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.
Ensures GKN Safety policies, procedures and best practices are adhered to by the quality team at all times.
About you
Required Experience
5+ years of experience in a Quality Managerial or Leadership position
2+ years? experience in an aerospace manufacturing environment
Additional Experience
Experience working with or implementing AS 9100 or ISO 9001
Bachelor?s Degree or Associate?s Degree preferred
Six Sigma Green Belt+ Certification preferred
Understand customer needs and requirements to develop effective quality control processes
Customer facing experience
Devise and review specifications for products or processes
Set requirements for products from suppliers and monitor their compliance
Supervise inspectors, technicians and other staff and provide guidance and feedback
Keep accurate documentation and perform statistical analysis
Constantly looking for improvement opportunities and develop new efficient procedures
Proven experience as quality manager
Conscientious and responsible, excellent organizational and leadership skills
Outstanding communication skills
Proficient in MS Office
In depth understanding of quality control procedures
Superior interpersonal skills, delivers information clearly and factually. Capable of adjusting to situation or audience.
Team worker with aptitude for mentoring and coaching.
